Blog & News:

Everybody Goes Home in October

Oct 6th, 08

I read Jack Kerouac religiously, but the title of this blog is my all-time favorite of his memorable musings. And this year, it's actually true for me - I'm going home to southern Indiana at the end of the month for my sister's wedding.

But before I go home, I'm headed to somewhere I've never been: Maine. I'm leaving this weekend for some time in the Northeast to write and clear my mind. While it's always a pleasure to spend some time off the road, I get stir-crazy quickly. I'm not putting any miles on my car or on myself, and I need to get out of the city for a bit.

The show this weekend in Chicago was such a blast. Thanks to everyone who came out to the Lakeshore Theater. It meant a lot to have everyone there, and the night was very special for me. I feel like a lot of these songs are really reaching their life with the way we're playing. For those of you who weren't there, here's the setlist:

Heartsteady
Maybe
Love and Do Not Hesitate
The Weight (the Band)
One for the Road
Past the River
Go Easy
Julianne
Ain't No Hurry
Factory Town Lullabies
Lay Down the Roses
Annabelle

Goodbye Southern Skies
Have You Ever Seen the Rain? (CCR)
Slow Burning Cigarette

Slow Burning Cigarette has come full circle - it's my favorite tune to play right now. When I wrote it four years ago, I loved it then, but I shelved it for a while. Almost didn't put it on the latest record, but it's grown on me again.

That's all for now. I hope you're all doing well wherever you are.
