It's a Van!

Jan 22nd, 07

There are monumental steps that all musicians take.

I remember buying my first guitar. I remember my first show at Mill Race Park Amphitheater. And I will always remember today, which marks the first official van rental in my history.

The van, a rock and roll tradition. While all musicians take different paths, they all ride in the same style. However, as I mark this day on my calendar (I don't actually have a calendar; I just thought that sounded appropriate), I realize that a van requires more care than a child.

The rules of renting a van include provisions against animals inside the vehicle and stealing the tires. Given the option,,I would pick up every stray dog between here and California for our travels and probably a few deer, too. Rabbits, turtles, ferrets - they're all invited. Consider it a modern day Noah's Ark.

We are not allowed to lose the van. That's against the rules, which came as a shock to me.

We must take pictures of the mileage. It's part of a photo collage to document the van's journey.

We are not allowed to drive the van naked. Actually, this isn't part of the contract, but I assume it's an understood rule.

We cannot talk down to the van or make it feel inferior to other vehicles on the road.

So, without further delay, we announce the "A Van for A Valentine" Tour. We considered a lot of names for the title of our travels - "Cupid Goes Cross Country" and "OMG! Look How Big Their Wheels Are!", to name a few - but this name just fits our journey.

If you want to come along, it's cool. We have a lot of room since the animals are excluded.

See you soon,
dm
