Blog & News:
Staying Cool in Chicago
Early Friday morning, I woke to news of the Apocalypse Snow in Chicago.Don't go to Chicago, the weathermen warned. You will never make it. The snow is as high as the Sears Tower.
I was worried. I had to make it to the show. What would a day be without playing music in a bar? Nothing.
On my journey to the Winter Wonderland, I soon realized that weathermen are liars. They all agreed to fabricate the story of snow to ease traffic in the city for a day. So naturally, with extra time on my hands, I decided to sleep in a rest area.
Many folks have warned me of the dangers of rest area naps, but I never pay much attention. For those of you who know me, I?m really tough. In addition to finishing a record this summer, I trained for the first annual Midwestern Man Competition. I won with no problem. Pulled a bus. Two of them, actually.
But I digress.
In the rest area, I heard a knock on my car window. This is it, I thought to myself. Someone is going to steal my car. Well, it?s been a good ride. I accepted defeat and turned to my left in fear. No mugger. No carjacker. Two of my best friends on a Greyhound bus bound for Chicago stood by my window, laughing at the realization that musicians actually do sleep in cars. Fate, I tell you. I rescued them from the Greyhound bus ride, and they rescued me from loneliness.
Last night was my favorite night of the past month. Played with Aaron the Backbeat Kiser and opened up for good friend and fellow Hoosier, Jon McLaughlin. If you haven?t heard it, check out the song ?Indiana.? www.myspace.com
Post show provided some serious entertainment in Muncie, IN. We relaxed in a quiet, reserved bar called Doc?s. By quiet and reserved, I mean there was a band called Vintage Porn on stage and they rocked the house.
In the past week, I have played at The Basement and The Living Room. On Tuesday, I play at The Loft. Saturday, it?s another Living Room. We?re taking bookings to play in your dining room and bathroom. Call today.
